Despite what a lot of people have been guessing, she wasn’t inspired by Dragon Ball Z or other shounen anime. She was probably most subconsciously inspired by Susan Strong from Adventure Time:
Well thats just…. just, ah……… hmmm. Cool? I’m at a loss for words here. Hulga kinda terrifies me in a way that shouldn’t. It’s a very “interesting” concept.
One day I’m going to have to give ‘Adventure Time’ a serious chance. There’s something about the animation style that puts me off, although I can’t put my finger on it. I had the same problem with ‘Ed, Edd, and Eddy’, although I eventually got past it. I never did with ‘Cow and Chicken’ or ‘South Park’.
Adventure Time is set after the Great Mushroom war man, there’s one.. maybe two humans left, everyone else all is from after that, and almost nothing survived of the humans except some old ruins and stuff.
for some reason i think more of female version of bane from batman then Susan strong from adventure time. her intellect and reasoning goes down though when she becomes all huge and bulky.

Terrifying scene ‘cos along with Helga’s facial expression, those muscles look like they mean to break every bone in Claire’s body 8D;;;
Just curious but how long has the concept art been planned in relation to the idea that Helga will be hulking out?
Ha, I called it!!

I had to check the archives to be sure, since the cast page doesn’t include bios for the sisters for some reason, but her name is Olga, not Helga.

Good One. Reminds me of Stella and Sister form Arakawa Under the Bridge.
