I bought this for 5 dollars the other day:

If a silly movie about nuns can’t help me feel better, nothing will. (Is that nun on the right holding a shotgun? I can only hope.) When I get to Belgium, I am going to have a nun-a-thon and watch every nun movie I can find.
My list so far:
- Sound of Music (I’ve already memorized the movie, but it never gets old)
- Trouble with Angels (It’s got that girl from Parent Trap, it must be good, right?)
- The Nun’s Story (Audrey Hepburn FTW)
- La Monja (Stupidest Horror Movie trailer I ever saw)
- Sister Act 1 + 2 (I liked these better in Italian.)
Any suggestions?

Nuns on the Run (Eric Idle of Monty Python)
Agreed! It’s hilarious!
BLUES BROTHERS! they’re on a mission from god…
The Blues Brothers. Just for the Penguin. Sure, it’s only one nun in the entire movie, but STILL!
The Nun. It’s a horror movie, and if I recall kinda cheesy. But hey, cheesy can be good. ;p
Ditto on Nuns on the run
Nuns on the Run – two convicts hide out in a convent – Eric Idle from Monty Python is one of the convicts… it’s a fun movie
and I guess it would help to read comments above me before hitting submit… sorry about that
There was a female comedy troupe that did a few shows under the title “Nunsense”. You’ll probably have a hell of a time trying to find one, but there’s enough funny material in them to make it worth a try.
I know it’s not a Film but the second series of Pushing Daisies involved one of the characters becoming a nun!
“The Trouble with Angels” was actually good enough to rate a sequel – “Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows”
Also you are forgetting “The Sound of Music”
Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it.
I’ve never actually seen it, but there’s a 1967 tv series called the flying nun that is about…well, a nun that can fly :O
Trouble With Angels is great! You’ll have the theme song stuck in your head for days! There was also a sequel called “Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows” that was ok, not as good as the first one, but the only nun road movie I’ve ever heard of.
There was an old 1960′s tv show “The Flying Nun” starring Sally Field. The first (possibly only?) seasons are available on Netflix.com
how about The Singing Nun starring Debbie Reynolds? apparently based on a true story, and it’s about a nun…who sings!
Let’s see, Unrikk already suggested Nun’s on the Run, so:
Let’s start with the story of Sister Luc Gabriel / Sister Smile / Luc Dominique / Jeanine Deckers, a Belgian nun with an unhappy flirtation with fame):
Soeur Sourire (opened in Belgium April 30, might still be in theaters there when you get there)
The Singing Nun (an older telling of the tale)
Other movies with prominent nunnery:
Agnes of God
Bells of St. Mary
Black Narcissus (Note: Anglican Nuns)
Dead Man Walking
Doubt
La Religieuse
Song of Bernadette
Suor Omicidi
There’s even a sub-genre of undercover nuns , but they tend to act unnunley (what would an actual word for that be?):
Hudson Hawk
Change of Habit
Also, no nuns that I remember, but some good old catholic mayhem can be found in The Boondock Saints, I think you’d like it
Check out http://www.nunsploitation.net for some commentary on a wide range of nun films, the good, the bad, and the quite profane.
Lilies of the Field.
Nun of That
Not a film, but there was a TV series called Father Dowling Mysteries with a crime-fighting, mystery-solving priest/nun duo
I feel so out of it I know no nun-movies….I wonder if there’s a movie about Nunjas…. that has to be the worst Idea I’ve ever had
two mules for sister sara
cannonball run 2
i don’t know if this would be insulting or not, but there is this realllllly bad horror movie (if you can call it a horror movie) called ” Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter”. Can’t remember if it has nuns in it… but it does have Jesus impaling vampires!
you can check out the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LRIypcaIX4&feature=related
The Flying Nun; was a great tv series in the 60s with Sally Field. There’s a box set of the series on DVD.
Actually the movie Two Front Teeth featured a secret order of Ninja Nuns.

Here’s great picks ^^
There’s a manga I love called “Chrno Crusade” (sometimes spelled “Chrono Crusade”) about a nun with guns named Rosette who fights alongside a demon named Chrono. I can’t really recommend anything else, that manga and this webcomic are the only things I’ve ever seen with nuns in them.

THE NUN
The tagline is “Not all water is holy”, lol
I bet it’s an umbrella.
Two Mules for Sister Sarah. It has Clint Eastwood!
I don’t really know of any nun movies besides what’s on your list…however, my friend and I saw a hilarious calendar called “Nuns Having Fun!” And apparently, it’s also a book!
http://www.amazon.com/Nuns-Having-Fun-Maureen-Kelly/dp/0761150412/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243524376&sr=8-1
=D
Oh, and Google image search “nuns having fun” for hilarity galore!
I wouldn’t call it a nun move perse but a good religious themed one is Babette’s Feast.
It won the 1987 Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.
i love this movie
Virgin Territory involves a really amazing convent of nuns xD
The Killer Nun.
Nuns on the Run for sure!!!
First off, congrats on graduating!
Secondly, love the comic
Thirdly, that’s no shotgun, that’s a problem solver
Two Mules for Sister Sara… Clint Eastwood and Shirley McClaine in the Old West.
I forgot to mention, for horror films, there’s “The Convent”, which was easily one of the worst horror movies ever made (when Coolio’s your premier cameo, things have gone horribly wrong), but there’s certainly no lack of nuns in it – one of whom teaches her students to “HAIL SATAN”. The usual tripe.
Not sure if anyone said it
but try “The Flying Nun”
it’s not a movie, it was a tv series about a nun who can…well…fly
Angels in the outfield is good
I can’t give you a film, but I can give you a song: Sister Josephine by Jake Thackray
Oh wait, actually there is a film that goes with that song. It’s called “Sister Josephine Kicks the Habit” It’s extremely funny.
Nunsense. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YTBMxX49bM
You should look up Two Mules for Sister Sarah. Great movie.
I’ve totally seen La Monja. It had so much potential. So much.
Can’t think of any nun movies that haven’t already been mentioned, but if you’re interested in reading, I highly recommend A Nun in the Closet by Dorothy Gilman. A fun book.
It’s a bit …erm…unpleasant, but Ken Russell’s 1971 film The Devils features a large number of (very debauched) nuns (among many other religious figures, most of them mad). Great film, but pretty violent and horrific in places. Definitely not to everyone’s taste.
therese is another film completely about nuns.
Yo, La Peor De Todos (I, The Worst Of All.)
See this one if at all possible! It’s a serious historical drama about the life of Sister Juana Ines de la Cruz, a 17th century poet. Plus there are lesbian nuns… which I kinda love.
