If you’re interested in seeing the little preview of my portfolio site, it’s at Yamiloo.com.
I’m getting up at 8am tomorrow to blaze through it with my professor and get it online. Then, I have to see my academic advisor to have him review my resume, then I have to go print off business cards, then I have a 2 and a half hour class (which I intend to use for working on the next page!) and then I have a late dinner. WHOO.

You sound so busy! But I love the splash page you have set up for your portfolio site! It’s filled with cute bubbly boys!
Everything are just excuses. Since the last update was last week you should ALREADY have a comic page done. I’m reading a lot of webcomics and only your is almost always belated (other webcomic drawer also have busy life, but they are on time with their strips). You should understand that you are loosing a lot of anonymous readers because of that – I like your comic but I don’t feel that you are treating your readers seriously. I alwas chceck on Monday and Thursday and when I see there’s nothing new I am really sad. All I can see is just another note about family/school/other things – you know, I stopped believing you. If you really care about your readers you will find a time to finish the page. I didn’t mean to harm you with this comment – it’s just that I have enough and I’m always telling people if something is annoying me. Good luck with your comic and with your other projects.
P.S: Sorry for my english, I am not native english speaker
@Nu: Believe me, I know it’s bad to be late with updates. But you really don’t know just HOW busy my life is right now. I could bore you with the details, but essentially I am graduating and I have a a LOT of other more important things to do, like packing all my belongings for an international move. I do this comic for free, just as something fun for myself and you guys. I try my best to be on time, but since it is not a payed job, it takes a lower priority than my schoolwork.
This last week, my family visited me all the way from Europe, and I occasionally had to tell them “Sorry, I can’t handg out today” because I was working on Sister Claire pages. Can you imagine, telling your family that after they paid thousands of dollars to come see you? I agree that I should have made a comic buffer a long time ago, but because I started this comic up so fast, I never got the chance. It’s something I will do in 2 weeks when I move to Belgium and have a lot more spare time. =)
I love seeing the previews –
this one is great, in fact it’s so great I wish there were no text on it
Nice to see as well how the it evolves(?) when being drawn. thanks for a great comic!
* Nice to see as well how the [comic] evolves . . lol
Dont worry about it, we will all wait patiently, because it is worth it. Besides we get cute splash pages all the time. Keep up the good work!
Yamiloo preview = rainbowy goodness
Can’t wait for the next strip, but of course, you gotta do what you gotta do
Good Career=More good comics. I am sure its all worth the wait. Preview site=Fabulous~!
eh, could be worse. you could put off the next page for like, ten years and then just cancel the comic. That’d be much worse.
anyway, cant wait. ‘s gonna be awesome, I predict.
I know how it is to get busy. Graduation and family is much more important than a comic that is more of a pass time an practice for you future career.
BTW, I love your comic. the art is great and I look forward to seeing more of you work and your portfolio.
@Nu: I also read a lot of web comics. Many of them come to a point of being late or having an “I am sorry for no new comic” slash or not up. If you want to help (which is better than complaining) send Yamino some fan are maybe she can put it up as a guest strip. Those also happen a lot in many long running webcomics. One of the most successful comics I read, http://questionablecontent.net/ , which has been running since 2003, often has late content of “I am sorry” strips. The same can be said about http://www.reallifecomics.com which has been running for more than 8 years. So if you like the comic, get over things being a little late and remember that Yamino has a life also.
sorry for the dubble post there. i am not sure what happened.
Wow, with how very busy you sound, I can understand the delays. And it’s not like this is a permanent state for your webcomic to be in, after all… so I check the page a little less often when I’m looking for updates on my other webcomics, not a big deal compared with, say, discontinuing the comic. I’m a college student, too (only I’m a physics major, which has less than nothing to do with the things I put online), and I’m sure the readers of the fanfiction I write are not thrilled about the length of hiatus that sometimes happens between chapters because of my college classes (and the anti-inspiration that canon sometimes is, but that’s another story completely), but sometimes these things are just not avoidable even though they are certainly not a *good* thing. Also, the splash page for your website-to-be is very cute. ^_^ Good luck with your move!
The preview is looking good! I’m excited for the next page! I know it’ll be good, so the wait isn’t bad.
Make sure not to stress out too much about everything you’re doing. I did that recently and got really sick from being so stressed with work and not taking time for myself. :c
Geesh Nu,step off Yamino’s tits yo.Considering what I just read regarding how busy she is,I seriously do not have a problem. That’s just how things are for her,and for good reason. She’s a talented person trying to do something in her field of expertise,I’m surprised she even has time to reply to us at times.I rather have a detailed explanation on what’s going since she is (for the next couple of weeks) a full-time student, and I considered this a better excused compared to someone who does comics for a living and can make decent coin off their merchandise and just say “my heart’s not into it,sorry”.That is what gets me,because there’s not much detail to what’s going, but then alot of them do use that for excuse because it becomes true to some extent when they come to realization what their doing especially when their own readers start berated them “for letting them down.”There’s one comic artist named Ashley who started a comic recently called Survive! where she was out for a whole month because she hyper-extended her wrist and it looked like a bendy straw, and that was compounded with her hurting her back some time after. This I can understand all too well.Yamino’s is making a free comic for those of us who come online, yes it may only be a few pages a week if that, but if you REALLY feel betrayed when personal issues come into play “as an excuse”,then you’re probably better off not reading at all and play close to $5 for a 30-40 page comic at a newstand or something, and that’s if whoever doesn’t do a halfass job on the story.
I am not chastising you for your opinion, but I get rather annoyed when people just assume that the artist conveniently always has an excuse for why they don’t have a comic, even if it’s a valid reason. And berating the person about it doesn’t help especially when they explain themselves,it just makes you seem like a selfish jerk.
At any rate, thank you Yamino for letting us know what’s going, that shows genuine concern about your readers and that you do your best to stay on top of things. And I also appreciate you doing this comic,it’s one of the few I really look forward to each week because I know it will be updated on time (for the most part) and the story moves along nicely and is enjoyable
.
Just noticed your tweets on the left side of the site.Good-o on speaking to reps from the art industry O 3O ~!
Ganbatte =) Take all the time you need. Usually it’s the people that don’t understand who get annoyed when a page is late by a couple of measly days. Just take it as a lot of people liking the comic and waiting anxiously for more =) Relax, and just do whatever you have to, go get em ;D
Yea understand busy but you had enough time to draw and post that
Yamino, I looked at your site and I’m so excited to see it finished
I LOVE this comic. SERIOUSLY The whole “Pregnant Nun. Holy Crap” hooked me into looking at this in the first place and I am so glad you did. Good luck on your move and good luck on your portfolio! You’re a talented artist, I believe in you :33
ALSO I HAVE TO SAY: OHMYGOD THE LITTLE BUBBLE BOYS ALL OVER YOUR PORTFOLIO PAGE ARE ADORABLE AS ALL GET OUT OHMYGOD -squealing uncontrollably-
What is wrong with me today? I meant “I am so glad I DID” what the hell, man xD
BUT YEAH >D Go kick ass, Yamino
YUU CAHN DOO EET >D
xDD <3333333
Great Work So Far Yamino, I’m really enjoying every strip you have created to date.
I love the new and fresh Ideas you bring to the rather bland and overrun comic world.
Please never stop doing what you do, but also don’t let it interfere with your life schedule, We the loyal readers will sit patiently and wait for you to bring us the next fantastic edition to this already extraordinary artwork.
Hey Yamino, guess what. You have nothing to apologize for. We aren’t paying to read your comic, you are using your talent to entertain us. If someone has the nerve (I’m looking at you Nu) to actually complain about a free thing, well guess what. Too bad. Life is full of delays, just because you have priorities that rank higher than this comic (Family, school, etc), does not mean you should say sorry to this person. Take care of what is important first.
As for you Nu, here is some advice. Get your head out of the clouds, the world does not cater to specifically to you. If you don’t like it, tough. Get over it.
@Zerzix – haha, ya know I was going to say that probably most, if not all, of the webcomics I’ve read have those “I’m sorry” days, with either some sort of “I’m sorry” or guest strip, and Real Life Comics is certainly one of them
I thought it was funny you mentioned that one because I hadn’t read it in a loooong time and I don’t remember when I had stopped reading it, but I’m trying to catch back up again
I agree with previous comments re: Nu’s whinge. This is a FREE comic, an exceptional one at that, we’re extremely lucky that Yamino does such an amazing job… almost every comic has problems crop up from time to time, which cause late strips / pages. Life is much more important. All the very best of luck with your graduation, meetings and the move to come! Sister Claire is an exquisitely gorgeous comic, both the art and the writing are truly special! Also… the portfolio page looks incredible… I love your muse!
@Zerzix (again, cuz I forgot something) – Come to think of it, I think it was on that site that I saw the ad for this comic…
@Schala: if you like Reallife comics check out Questionalbe content. it si a good one
Nu- how horrific that your life is so terribly disturbed when this fabulous, FREE comic doesn’t update on time. Clearly you’re out so much money… wait, no. Invested time? Yea, it sure takes hours to load a page. So what, exactly, are you losing here?
Oh yea. Any respect anyone might have had for you. You try putting out a piece of serial art this wonderful and manage updates while you’re graduating from college. I’d love to see how punctual you are.
Yamino? Don’t even bother apologizing to people like Nu. You’re better off without readers with that big a sense of entitlement. I’m personally looking forward to the new pages. This really is a fantastic story, and the art is wonderful. If people like Nu want a comic on time, perhaps they should be prepared to pay you a full-time salary to create it.
So thank you for doing what you do, and by all means, ENJOY this time with your family! The comic will be here when you get back.
@ Nu : Dude..lay off Yamino’s back. She’s busy and she has important things to do.Personal life comes before anonymus readers oke?Back off if you don’t like the wait, but don’t attack comic creators unless you post comics your own and you have a busy period. If you’re a fan you’ll understand..if you then just leave it be.I’m sure Yamino won’t mind loosing you as one!
Yamino dear…don’t over do it.And go luck with your interviews and stuff today.
I agree that it can be frustrating when you look forward to an updated comic and only see reasons why it isn’t up… But usually the reasons you see are “I was too tired”, “I got drunk with my friends”, and other immature excuses. When you read Yamino’s, however, they are not small little things that she can choose to do later. Anyone who doesn’t find these to be good reasons to put off drawing a free comic for other people’s entertainment is probably better off not interacting with other people anyway. I mean, come on… an international move? Family visiting from another continent? Huge career opportunities? Take as much time as you need Yamino, you have your true fans support!!
To all defenders: Well, actually I am graduating from high scool right now. Until the end of july I have my final exams and to pass them in my country you need to have 75% pts minumum ( I have 4 exams left). In addiction I have to prepare 20 projects to the University of Art where I am going to study + to pass there I also have to take 3 exams (drawing, sculpture, painting). Beside that I am doing a visual novel game with my friends (you can see some character projects on my DA webpage)so if anyone says that I have a lot of time is mistaken.
I don’t like when someone is saying “It will be done tomorrow I promise!” and the next day I don’t see a finished thing. THIS ANNOYS ME, not lack of comic pages – it’s like giving child a candy and stealing it from its mouth just when kid started to eat it. I think it is better to say “Right now I have other priorities, I give me some time. I don;t know when I will finish it”.
And I won’t take it back. Because of my harsh comment I see how many supporters Yamino has and I am happy that you are all defending her. I really enjoy reading your comments even if some of you are thinking of me as a monster XD.
To Yamino: If that’s the case, I can understand it. Good luck with your move. I was living in Belgium when I was a kid. Where are you going to move? French or dutch side of the country?
@ Nu:
I think you’re right, I’ve been trying my best to be as good as I can about keeping my deadlines, and also sticking to the extended dates I give when I can’t finish on time. Today was an honest mistake… I have been staying up so late and doing so much stuff every day, (preparing to meet editors, printing cards, trying to figure out how to make my damn website work!) I literally forgot what day it was, and assumed TODAY was Thursday. I’m just very out of it right now, and I can’t wait until things settle down. I totally dropped the ball this week as far as this webcomic went, but I’m doing my best to pick up as fast as I can.
So to summarize, I appreciate harsh criticism, and I need people to give it to me to keep me on my toes. But at the same time, you can’t assume that you know how much time *I* have, because you are not me, and you don’t know the workload and stress I am under right now. Believe me, I love this story, and I love my readers, and I would never miss an update because I was “bored” or “too tired.” I want to get to the next page just as much as you do. =)
@Nu: I was not thinking of you as a monster, more of a spoiled brat. But dont let what others may or may not think of you influence how much of an ass you are, the world can’t really move forward with out people that state their opinion. My only real point was that many comics run replacment strips from time to time.
Nu, just how many other webcomics do you read? I’m currently at 52 that still update, as well as a handful of others that have either finished their story arc, or were put on hiatus. And of the one’s that do still update on a “regular” basis, more than half of them do occasionally miss update. Ever read Goblins? The guy who writes that literally makes a living off his comic, and his updates are sometimes a week late.
And the only thing that made sense about your “Taking candy from a baby” analogy was that you compared yourself to a baby. Unless you’re paying for a service, don’t expect perfection. When I checked the RSS feed and saw there wasn’t a comic, my reaction was “Ah well, I’ll check back later” Not “how dare she!”. If I was paying to read the comic, that’d be another story. But I’m not, and neither are you. So hush up and be patient.
Somebody pissed in Nu’s Wheaties this morning.
But I find it more interesting to be able to see more of the life of a webcomic artist. There are some webcomics–like LICD–where this is their actual job. But not even they started out that way.
And as a side note to Nu, if you think getting into that art college is going to take a lot of work, think of how much it takes to graduate that college. Now place Yami in that situation.
as soon as I read Nu’s comment, I was gonna say something, but I noticed everyone else pretty much summed it up.
oh no! somebody has the NERVE to be late and have higher priorities. hint: it’s not the truman show. it’s not all about you. other people have lives outside of entertaining you. Remember this.
@Nu, I don’t think of you as a monster, I think of you as an ass. Or some spoiled child who didn’t get what that wanted and has to whine about it, instead of acting like an adult, summing up what is really going on and moving on with life. I’m older than you, WAY older, and you are acting like a child. Hopefully you grow out of this entitlement phase, because I have to deal with people like you on a regular basis. Except I tell them what is really on my mind.
Yamino, keep updating the comic on the schedule that works for you, because school and family are much more important that catering to the needs of people like Nu. The rest of understand that delays do happen, and that sometimes they cannot be avoided.
Finally I have caught up! I love your comics. I’ve joined the cult ;p Nu: I know people are busy and we know you are tryin to give advice to help people, but most of the anonymous readers see this page once and then move on to another webcomic to fill their little void in life (no offense to the anonymous readers) if we really like the comic, we go back to the beginning and reread it all, so it doesnt really matter if it is late, and once we finish up to the current page, if we liked it enough, we understand if it is late. life runs on a clock that is 5 minutes slow, we learn to deal with it.
To defenders:
I guess that you didn’t understand what I wrote last time, so I’ll write it simpler.
After the first reply from Yamino I understood completly her situation, because I am in similar situation right now. However I think if life is giving us other, important priorities it’s better halt other things (webcomic) and finish things IRL. What I am trying to say is telling people “I’ll finish it tomorrow, I promise” and then didn’t keet a promise don’t look to good. It is better to say “I have important things to do, I can’t do a page for a while”. Why? Because the person who says “I promise” all the time eventually will loose trust of other people. In my country we’re calling it “making rug out of your face” (no offence, I don’t know how to name it – it’s a direct translation). If I coul give an advice I’d say it woul be better to update “Sister Claire” once a week for a while and get things on time. This is the opinion I won’t take back, not opinion in my first comment.
So think first before you call me an “ass” because I didn’ called like that any of you and read carefully what I wrote.
To Yamino: Good luck with getting your things done on time ^^
Crap,here I go again.
Ok everyone, now step off Nu’s tits yo.I understand Nu’s viewpoint and made my own counterpoint to it,which I think I may have come off abit harsh, but still there has to be some understanding on the matter with being busy or not having the heart to do it right now.I understand how Nu feels about “page is late, will be up tomorrow” and then it isn’t because I have seen this on other webcomic artists’ pages as well, some more than others, and it does get rather annoying over time.I can overlook this for those who have just started a webcomic, but for everyone who says ok comic up soon and then two weeks later is isn’t,there’s a slight problem there. But like I said before,I try my best not to get too bent out of shape over it and if something personal does comic up,there is always the option of guess comics (which happened recently with Nine Shot Sonata).
Nu,you’re doing find with trying to convey what you’re saying,it reminds me of a few german speaking friends of mine and elder sister I use to have.
There’s entirely too much name-calling in these comments. Yamino said she loves us. Can’t we all just focus on how much she loves me? I mean us?
@ Nu: Trust me when I tell you Yami is MUCH better at updating her webcomic than others who shall remain nameless. The author of the other webcomic has promised to get back into the swing of things since January and hasn’t even bothered to update as she said she would and if it weren’t for the fact that I really was enjoying the comic I would stop checking back. I know how you feel but you have to realize that even if she’s late on her oh crap! it’s time to update something updates, at least she’s updating! That should be motivator for some fans, the fact that she may be late with them (cuz you know, human and whatnot so it happens) but we as the fans are also part of the problem sometimes. We may be the second reason Yami does this (I’m a big believer in most artistic types do it for themselves, even if they don’t admit it) but we’re not the only thing on her plate. If that were the case, she wouldn’t bother to get up out of her chair most days and would spend COUNTLESS hours sitting there drawing up a storm. Diapers would be piled up around her, empty IV bags littering the floor. . . do you see how ludicrous it is to ask this of the author of a comic we all enjoy?
Just give her time and remember, she’s not breaking a promise in deliberation, she’s breaking it because life gets in the way. She feels bad about it, sure but she’s not going to go and committ sepuku over having offended your frailties. I hate when people break promises too, but I will listen to the reasons why and then decide if I’ll forgive them and let it go or come up with some way for them to make it up to me. That’s also a very human thing to do. Remember that, as you start to actually live in the adult world.
really love the reference at the end, Full Life Consequences!
part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHxyZaZlaOs
part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8yHguvYYyQ
(the 2 videos are really funny rendition of a VERY poorly written half life fan fiction done with gary’s mod.)
Wow, nu is a dick. Don’t let it bother you. Either a troll or just a dumbass reader that you could go without anyway.
:B You’re almost done with school, don’t lose your focus.
nu, http://www.staccomic.com/
that is all.
jeez, why is it people be so judgemental – no-one is an ass – or a dick or whatever.
BTW I was thinking there are some comics out there that just get updated whenever people have time: Questionable Content, XKCD, that’s another option …
Aww.
Everybody gets busy.
I hope all your crazyness straightens out. ^^
This is a good comic. Very cute. :3
I’ll be waiting for your updates. ^^
A little late here but: Its funny how nobody pay attencion of how nice and mature was Yamino when replying to Nu, she didn´t even seem mad at her, hehe, and even she continue to reply to her when she did her second comment.
And that Yamino says she likes and need critics. Some artists can’t take it, and other use it to improve their work…
I did hate the Nu first coment, but the other ones looked a little better.
(god, I almost gave up two times to reading all the coments before writing x.x)
sorry my english is not good, and for the stupid late words ^_^
