A study of Sofie, the protagonist of my upcoming comic, Nightingale.
Sofie is the main character, and yet lately I haven’t drawn much of her at all! I am trying to give her that sleepy-eyed, English Rose look. I don’t think I’ve quite succeeded. I should also be less lazy and do more finished art with long hair. I still don’t really know how to draw it properly in 3D with shading/color.
I’m going to start paying closer attention to models like Holly/Ivory Flame, who have the type of classical look I’m going for:

Take a look at paintings by Rubens — he regularly achieved the look of long, silky, wavy hair with strokes that look like they were laid down with a 1/2 inch chisel brush …
