OH DUH! He’s name is “Sal,” as in short for spotted salamander. When I was reading the chapter where “Gabby” was chatting it up with this guy I couldn’t figure out what he was. It was hard to tell when the night club disco lights where all over him.

Is sal based on the tiger salamander? If so, AWESOME. I love the little things, even if the farmers want nothing more than to smash ‘em dead. They look so cheerful!
