I had SO much fun with the colors in this scene. Get ready for the GRAND FINALE COLOR-SPLOSION!! For those interested, Gloria in Excelsis Deo is a real song. Read more about it (and the lyric’s meaning) here! And if you want to see a slightly larger, textless version, you only need CLICK HERE. =D
For those people who have been asking about the song, you can listen to the original Latin version here.
Not to be confused with the Christmas song, Angels We Have Heard On High, although that song does have a chorus that repeats “GloooOOoOoOoOrai, in Excelsis Deo!” (Latin for “Glory to God in the highest”) The phrase is actually pretty common in Catholic hymns.

ah-HA! Claire has found her inner powerhouse “A” just like Sr. Mary Robert in Sister Act! [kicks back and watches the show]
Smoker front and center, also Aptiva and Trekker Mint. And Street Sharks?! damn haven’t seen that since my childhood.
I wish I understood … Latin?
I spy Smoker and Aptivia!
I believe it is latin, since all the hits on youtube/google refer to Vivaldi. Not too surprising, either. I’ve heard more than the few hymns in Latin.
I think this might be the song… complete with score sheet.
@Dylan: Isn’t that Mint over of the right side in the final frame too?
@SnowWolf :OHAI mint! He was just out of my field of vision. Stupid PSP.
Hey! I know that song!
We had to learn it for our christmas choir performance.
Claire’s expressions are adorable in this comic! >w<
It’s not just a regular hymn; it’s the Gloria from the Mass, which is sung in every Sunday Mass aside from Lent and Advent. Claire would be pretty familiar with it, I suppose.
Koopa Toopa cool
I spy a Koopa Troopa and a Street Shark!! ^_^
lol Freen in Green cameo, nice plug there yamino :p
Street Sharks ftw!
Wow, that ended a lot better than I thought it might! I wish I knew that song, though. Maybe you could share a link to the version of music and words you were using, or sing it for us yourself when you finish Claire’s song on the next page? Pretty please?
I love old church hymns like this although I’m not familiar with Latin ones having grown up in a Protestant household.
That reminds me, you really should check out a group called Industrial Monk, a mixture of Latin Hymns, Industrial Electronica and Hip Hop. They have some samples of their stuff up here, Requiem is a good place to start to get some idea what I’m talking about:

This page makes me so happy
re the music:
The version I know (from my catholic youth, I cant remember did we sing it in Latin or English – it’s a while ago..) is also sung as a Christmas carol “Angels We Have Heard on High” – I could sortof imagine *that* one being jazzed up to Gabrielle standards!
Hard to find a non-kitsch version of it so here’s one with a nice kitschy video to match :p
I actually sang this in primary school…O_O
it is really good colloring in this comic
I don’t need the link to listen to the Gloria in Excelsis–I can sing it any time I want. Well, except during Lent (mostly). But come Easter–watch out!!
This isn’t the ‘original’ Gloria – Vivaldi’s is merely the most popular/well known. Vivaldi’s is also actually from a ‘stand-alone’ setting of the Gloria, rather than a mass setting, and it’s not the only Gloria he wrote. Certainly one of the best settings though
xD Trust Gabrielle to turn a bad situation into something epic.
Love the last pose by the way. =D Looks like Claire’s really getting into it. xD
*speechless*
cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Let’s see if I can translate this without the help of Google Translator…
And in the earth (we want to live?) in peace!
We praise you! We trust you! We adore you! We glorify you!
Just kinda guessing there, haha.
hahaha, pretty nice, awesome colorig @.@
Is that a Freen in Green cameo I see? Lol nice Yamino.
That’s one hell of an explosion of neon colors! The little choregraphy at the end makes the scene all the more endearing. Great job as always, Yamino!
By the way, while rereading your comics, I noticed carved onto the tombstones p75 the names Sister Ophelia and Sister Theresa with their symbol. For some reason, I can’t picture Ophelia as nun without laughing. I hope to see more Claymore references XD
i think this is my favorite page so far
Beautiful colors! This is my favorite page!
Glorificamus te!
Gabrielle’s hair is so swooshy and pretty in the last panel! *wants to pet it*
This is totally the best page so far. It wins hands down.
I do like how Claire starts so self-consciously and fearfully, and then forgets herself in the singing.
…Gratias agimus tibi propter magnam gloriam tuam
Domine Deus, Rex caelestis, Deus Pater omnipotens
Domine fili unigenite, Jesu Christe
Domine Deus, Agnus Dei, Filius patris
Qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis
Qui tollis peccata mundi suscipe deprecationem nostram
Qui sedes ad dexteram patris miserere nobis
Quoniam tu solus sanctus
Tu solus Dominus
Tu solus Altissimus, Jesu Christe
Cum Sancto Spiritu in gloria Dei Patris.
Amen!
Here’s a chant version of the Gloria–and even in a female voice, like Claire’s!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x-232y-j-4&feature=related
sweet it’s finaly letting me comment on this lol. haha awesome page as always Yamino. i sang those words alot in chorus. et in terra pax hominibus everybody!!
Last year my choir performed Vivaldi’s “gloria” and one of each movement pretty much includes those words XD
That was sooooo incredibly sweet. So so so so cute! They are awesome together!
looks like Claire has an extra finger in that last panel
People may be mad with me for this comment, but after seeing how cute Claire is here I hope nothing “happens” between her and Gabrielle. As great as they’d look together Claire is so cute being so innocent!
Hmm..
A) OH, they get their very own con?
B) they have to share a con?
Not sure which to think..
hey just found your telephone image featured on the daily what http://thedailywh.at/page/7
do0d! crazy…. you replied to one of my coments a long time ago so i am very proud to be on a sort of “in crowd” type… thingy…. lady gaga is awesome, i’m so uber stoked that she was introduced to this comic. its awesome. keep up the awesome comic, delays and all ^_^
thank you yamimo!
MAN, I’ve sung that song so many times….! SO MANY TIMES.
Always with less sparkly disco lights, I admit.
Latin is my fave subject in school! “And on earth peace and good will to man (I…think?) We praise You, We (something related to “Good”) You, We adore You!” Go Claire!
\o/ Yay for Freen in Green!
I’m singing this song in choir! Or one similar to it. Our version is called Laus Deo and it’s super awesome.
I’ve sung this song in choir, but that was a long time ago.
Grat page as always!!!
Is that girl in the crowd GUMI fron Vocaloid???
