The reveal everyone has been awaiting (and many have been expecting!)

Since her conception I had envisioned Oscar as a trans person, because of the inspiration from her namesake, a gender-defying, favorite hero of mine.  However, I wasn't sure if there would ever be a place to reveal it in the comic, or if it would be relevant at all.

My fiancée Ash (who is now a co-writer of the comic)  had already helped me plan the bath scene with Claire and Co, which introduces some important foreshadowing about Catharine and Claire's relationship.  We decided that rather than pull a J.K. Rowling, we should make a similar scene to reveal information about the other nuns- that Sister Olga is secretly covered in stretch marks, and that Sister Oscar is trans.  As queer people ourselves, we understand how important representation is.

A lot of readers have been leaving comments about their predictions regarding Oscar's body, but there have also been a lot of people expressing a lot of negativity and bigotry.  I want this to be a safe place for all readers, and that includes anyone who relates to Sister Oscar and is hurt by transphobic comments.  That won't be tolerated, and I'm afraid I'll have to ban people from commenting if they can't be courteous.

For those who are having trouble with this revelation about Oscar, just remember that just because you have new information about someone doesn't mean they have become any different. She might not have the body you expected, but the shape of it does not change her character.  She is not now suddenly "a man,"  she is still Sister Oscar, and will continue to be.
