Sister Claire: Debut date decided

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Hi everybody!  The release date for my comic has been decided.  The first chapter is going to be released on Christmas eve.  I wish you all a wonderful winter vacation(that is, if you have one), and I’ll see you then!

A note about update days…

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

I’m currently unable to reach a reliable internet connection.  Believe me, I want to share this comic with everyone as soon as I can, but I don’t want to make promises I can’t keep if this situation keeps up.

Also, I realized soon after I posted the debut date that it’s not possible to post an entire chapter at once, since Comicpress only allows for one page to be uploaded a day. SO!  I have decided to post the chapter in increments this month, as I finish the pages, and as my internet connection allows.  I’ll try to have one a day until Christmas.  I’ll have to run around to try to find places to upload from, but I think this is better than waiting all month and then possibly not being able to upload everything as I wanted to.

Think of it as one of those Christmas-y calendars your parents used to give you as a kid, only instead of chocolates to count down to Christmas, you get comics! =D

Once I have my own internet connection (which should be sometime next week) I’ll try to update the chapter on a more regular basis.  And after this chapter is uploaded, I’ll start my predetermined update rate of a new page every Monday.  Sorry for the confusion, and hope you’re having a great winter (or summer, if you’re in Australia) so far!

P.S. The Cubee page is coming.  There’s not much I can do to work on a PHP based site without internet… but the templates are all finished, and will be available quite soon. =)

Cubees

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

The Cubee templates have been uploaded!  You can download them from the gallery for now, but I plan to make an actual page for them once I get the chance.  To get the original, large file for a high-quality print, you’ll need to click the thumbnail, then click the small icon above the image to open the picture full-size in a new window.  Then save that, print it, and cut it all out.  No glue is required. =D

You may notice there’s a template for another character who hasn’t appeared yet.  She will be making her appearance rather soon…

Still no luck with internet…

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Look like the people whose weak wireless signal I was stealing from my house have figured out how to block me. D:  I’m now relying on the American Army base’s library for internet to check back with you guys and update daily.  And to get here, I have to rely on my father to drive me, since I don’t have a license of this country.  Suffice to say, it’s getting to be a real pain in the behind.  Not that I’ll let that be an excuse.  I’m still finishing a page a day, because that was my promise and I don’t plan to break it.  not if I can help it, anyway.

All the same, if for some reason I can’t manage to update one day, you know why. =(  Don’t lose hope in me!!

On the bright side, I added a link to Sister Claire’s Facebook page.  There isn’t a lot of content up there yet, but you can list yourself as an Official Fan, if you wish. ^_~  Claire would also love to be your friend!  If you have a Facebook account, you can click on the link to her profile on the left hand side of the site to add her. =)

Ok, I’m feeling pretty good about myself now, because I finished not one, not two, but THREE pages today, so I don’t have to worry about frantically working on the day the pages are due.

Enjoy… I made them with my own sweat, blood and explosive diarrhea. <3

Uh-oh…

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

Wow, I feel silly.  I was so exhausted when I upload the latest comics last night, that I accidentally posted one page out of order!  SPOILERS!!!! :O  I hope none of you saw it, lol.  The issue has been fixed now. >_>

By the way, did you know that people really do claim to see Jesus’s face in pancakes?  How about in a Cheeto? Honestly, Jesus, don’t you have better things to do?  Like spending more time helping people out instead of pasting your face on food? =P

Pandora

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

I really hope I can finish the pages for the next few days, there forces of the Devine seem to be working against me.  Doing a page a day, and now in color!?  Gah!! What was I thinking! >8O

Just in case I can’t do them on time, here’s something to tide you over:

The personification of Pandora!  Hm, I may use her in the story eventually.  If i could only figure out how…

Obatala – the Drunk Creator

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Advised by a friendly chameleon, he lowered the chain over the edge of heaven, climbed down, and tossed the lump of mud into the primeval sea. The chicken hopped onto the mud and began scratching it in all directions.

I love reading creation myths. I have to say this is one of the weirdest I have ever seen.

My favorite part: If you ever wondered why humans aren’t quite as perfect as they should be, here’s the answer: he was drunk at the time. So now you know.

I love it. Also, check this out: The Godchecker Holy Hit Parade!” It’s a popularity contest for gods… rofl.

South Park Parody

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

I know this isn’t at all related to the comic, except for perhaps the sense of humor and the drawing style, but I couldn’t keep it to myself.  This is a Christmas present for my friend who loves South Park and cute girls… so I thought to myself, “Why not mix the two?  It’ll be perfect.”

IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENTS, and upcoming features

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

I HAVE INTERNET!! At long last! Great, I got it in the last few days of my break here in Belgium.  Ah well.  Soon, I’ll be posting a rather extensive “About” section (adding to the meager info up there now) which will include an FAQ on how I ink my pages with Illustrator and color in Photoshop, as well a “making-of” Sister Claire where I explain how the story has evolved over several years.  A Cubee page is also in the works, and I’m working out how to set up some links as well.

AND, just to remind everyone, after Xmas I’ll be back to 1 page every Monday.  I know, I’ve spoiled you all with daily pages!  But I would like to have at least a few days of vacation this break. =P  January 3rd I fly back to the US to continue my college studies, and unfortunately my education has priority over my precious comic.  I’ve said I’d update once a week, but that’s only because I’m not sure how heavy my workload will be.  Two of my classes will be intensive watercolor courses, which I’ve never studied before, so hopefully I won’t be too overwhelmed.

Seeing as I’ve managed to update once a day every day this month, I’m pretty sure that 7 days will be way more time than I need even with homework on the side. So hopefully I can bump that up to 2 or maybe even 3 pages a week.  We’ll see. =)
